Overview of Nepal

Nepal is a landlocked country having 147,181 sq. km area and it is situated between China in the north and India to the south, east, and west. While visiting Nepal, you will not face the language problem.

Among 26.49 million people, the dense population is in the major city like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Biratnagar etc. Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. The currency is Nepali Rupee and you can easily exchange any currency to Nepali Rupee in different exchange center and banks.

If you are planning to visit from May to October, lightweight clothes are recommended. Warm garments are required in October – March. Umbrella or raincoat is a must for summer or rainy season.

How to access Nepal?

There is two possible medium to access Nepal. First one is by Air and another is by Land.

By Air:

Tribhuwan international airport is the one and only International Airport in Nepal. You can reach this airport from any of the airports from the world. Some countries like India, Malaysia, UAE, Thailand, Hong Kong, China etc have the direct flight.

Nepal Airlines is the national flag career airlines whereas there are some other airlines which will carry you up to Nepal. You will get on arrival visa easily in the Airport.

By Land:

All visitors coming to Nepal by land can enter from various entry points on Nepal-India border like Kakarbhitta, Birjung, Sunauli, Nepalgunj, Dhangadi, Mahendranagar, Gaddachauki, Biratnagar and Khasa, Liping/Tatopani on the Tibet China-Nepal border respectively.

You can travel via Train or Buses. The border like Biratnagar(Rani) has a direct train route connection to all over India. Nepal has a direct bus for Bangladesh and New Delhi India. Visa Fee and Visa Extension Fee

The government of Nepal has hiked visa fee for tourists in a range between $5 and $35 from July 17, 2019. Now, tourist have to pay the following fee for the visa.

  • Tourist visa fee for 15 days (multiple entry) – $30
  • Tourist visa fee for 30 days (multiple entry) – $50
  • Tourist visa fee for 90 days (multiple entry) – $125

The Depart of Immigration of Nepal has also raised the visa extension fee for foreign tourists and that will also apply from July 17.

  • Visa extension fee (within valid visa period) – $3 per day.
  • Visa extension fee (with multiple entry) – $25
  • The late fee on visa extension (after visa expiration) – $5 per day.
